Revd. George Hargreaves coming to Wales, April 2009

We are delighted to announce the visit of Revd. George Hargreaves to Wales on 19th April at Langstone Village Hall at 4pm. Revd. Hargreaves was recently broadcast on Revelation TV and we’re excited to have this opportunity in person to hear his vision for the UK and Europe. Revd. Hargreaves is the leader of the Christian Party and the Scottish Christian Party. He recently ran a bus advertising campaign to his back at the secular humanists and atheists who ran the headline ‘There’s probably no God. So stop worrying and get on with your life. The Christian Party advert stated ‘There definitely is a God. So join the Christian Party. And enjoy your life.’

Press Release from WCP Open Meeting – 28th February 2009

The 2nd Annual Open Meeting was held last week at Highland Moors and was enjoyed by all. The council believes that it was successful in encouraging and challenging existing members and potential members to rally behind the vision of Proclaiming Christ’s Lordship in Wales. Pastor Clive Owen of Newport challenged attendees to ‘Be who God made you to be’ and went on to declare ‘What a great opportunity this is for the Christian Church’.

Unfortunately, Revd. Hargreaves was unable to make it this time but sent his regards and a great report on his wife Maxine who had undergone surgery for a brain tumour earlier that week. He said she was making an incredible recovery and thanked all those who had prayed for her. Glory to God.

Each of the panel of speakers talked for a few minutes about why they are members of the WCP and did an exceptional job at conveying all the various aspects of the WCP. They demonstrated clearly how the party is attracting Christians of all denominations and backgrounds united simply under the banner of the Lordship of Jesus Christ

Jeff Green, leader of The Christian Party of Wales opened the meeting with a question. ‘The word says ‘ A rudder turns the whole ship. Are we the rudder ? Are we the ones to help steer the nation back to God again. Of course, it takes a lot of effort to turn a ship’. He went on to challenge people to find out what is going on. Many Christians don’t want to read papers or listen to the news because it is so depressing, but we cannot be oblivious to what is going on around us. Our freedoms are being eroded continuously. It’s time for Christians to stand up, take notice and take the country back.’

Aggie Horne, WCP Prayer Co-ordinator argued that ‘We are selling our Christian heritage for a bowl of soup, like Esau’. She said ‘We need people like Nathan who told David the truth, to tell the people in our nation the truth’. Aggie says she is the least likely person to be involved in politics but after a vision of Wales in 2004, she knew God had called her to make a stand, and says ‘We are reclaiming our Judeo-Christian heritage not just over Wales and the UK but across the world’.

Pastor Clive, one of two Regional Co-ordinators for the South East started with an enthusiastic call to the people of Wales ‘You’ve tried it every other way, now try it God’s way’. He denounced the media for trying to make people believe there is no hope and they want to tell people what they should think. ‘The media in this country are after your mind’. He sees a day when the minority parties will be the voice in power through their links with the large parties. Determined to get into the Welsh Assembly, he booms ‘I am born-again spirit filled, I have a voice and a purpose and I will make a difference’. He closed by encouraging attendees to tell others about the party and that even one can make a difference.

Derek Thomson, Regional Co-ordinator for South Central reminded attendees of all that God has done for us. He adopted us into his family. We are joint heirs with Christ. Our of our love for Him, we live to serve Him. We do all we can do and it is to glorify Him. He went on to state that ‘the government is promulgating sin, and it just goes in circles which produces a system that is ungovernable’. He concluded ‘We have the answer’.

Finally, David Griffiths, Regional Co-ordinator for North Wales, a man known for his strong convictions declared ‘The basis for our unity is not in academic ability. It is in Jesus Christ. We’re bringing people together under Christ’ He brought many a laugh to the audience stating ‘If you know anything, don’t join the party’, and encouraged everyone regardless of denomination or doctrinal beliefs to join ‘his friends’ because whilst we’re serious about the job at hand, we have fun together too. David concluded with his clear understanding of the Christian legal foundations of this country.

The WCP were keen to hear views from the audience about what issues most concern them and opened the meeting to the floor for their feedback.
Moving forward, the WCP is committed to building their profile in Wales this year and will be particularly focused on the following areas:

  • Education including sex education
  • Families, marriage and tackling the breakdown of the family unit
  • Financial crisis and security

The WCP want to thank everyone for their support and encouragement. The party are excited about the work in the days ahead.

Please continue to pray for clear direction every step of the way and the increase in members, profile and finances.
